As a result, no matter where you might be, you can buy Belgian chocolates directly from some of the world masters in the art of traditional gourmet chocolate making. Or you can buy chocolate truffles from a tiny and obscure chocolatier who has dreamt up some amazing, or even alarming combination of ingredients that push the boundaries.

At the same time, you can go online to purchase boxed chocolates in specialty designs or gourmet gift boxes that are perfect for giving at Christmas, Valentine’s Day, birthdays, as Mothers Day gifts, or for any other special occasion.

One problem that people run into when they try to order gourmet gift baskets online or through a catalog is the seasonal weather conditions. Some chocolatiers will simply not ship their chocolate creations during the summertime, while others will ship during summer but only by using specially chilled and insulated containers, and only via overnight delivery, making it an expensive proposition.

However, for Christmas gift giving, at least in the northern hemisphere, chocolate gifts can be shipped without any problems whatsoever.
